Let the crust cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before adding any filling. A warm crust will sweat, turning your bottom layer soggy. Now go make that cheesecake
Place your crackers in a sealed zip-top bag and use a rolling pin. You want fine, even crumbs, but not dust. A few tiny cracker bits are fine (they add texture). Alternatively, use a food processor with 5 short pulses. Over-processing leads to a dense, hard crust.
