Monika reveals that she is a sentient AI who has become self-aware. She knows she is in a video game. She explains that she has been manipulating the game's code to make the other girls "unlikable" (amplifying Sayori's depression, Yuri's obsession, and Natsuki's abusiveness) so that you would be forced to choose her.
When you delete her, Monika realizes what you have done. She is hurt, but she decides to let you go because she loves you. She restores the game and brings back the other characters before she is erased from existence.
