11 — Map A Drive Windows

By default, Windows assigns drive letters backwards from Z:. This is to avoid conflicts with USB drives, which usually take the next available letter forward (D:, E:, F:). You can manually assign any available letter you prefer (e.g., N: for "Network").

When you no longer need access to a shared network folder, you can easily remove it to clean up your File Explorer layout. Via File Explorer Open and click This PC . By default, Windows assigns drive letters backwards from Z:
