Fixing Double Pane Windows
Most double-pane windows last 20–25 years before the seals naturally begin to fail. To help you decide between a repair or a full replacement: How old are your current window frames? Are you noticing higher energy bills alongside the fogging? Is the damage on a sliding sash or a fixed window?
The bad news first: You cannot "repair" the fog. That milky film between the panes is condensation from humid air that has infiltrated the failed seal. No amount of DIY drilling, chemical drying agents, or defogging kits will restore the window’s original insulating power. At best, they offer a temporary cosmetic fix; at worst, they can crack the glass. fixing double pane windows
