Cuda Toolkit Archive Portable Review
Deep at the bottom, you find CUDA 1.0. It is clunky, primitive, almost unusable by today’s standards. It supported only a few Tesla architecture cards. Documentation was sparse. The developers who touched this were alchemists—they had to manage memory manually, debug with printf -less voids, and pray that the GPU didn’t simply hang the entire OS.
: Newer CUDA versions eventually drop support for older GPU architectures. For instance, CUDA 12.x no longer supports certain older compute capabilities (e.g., cc 3.5), forcing users with older hardware to download a compatible version like CUDA 11.x from the archive. cuda toolkit archive
