Thomas is the embodiment of the "tortured artist" trope, and Baynton plays it with such delightful over-the-top gusto that you can’t help but love him. In HD, the anachronisms in his costume pop—the frilly shirt, the pristine waistcoat amidst the decay of Button House. His poetry remains terrible, his longing remains unrequited, but his loyalty is surprisingly sweet.
