Frosthaven: Hive

They are often described as a "plague" upon the land. They burrow into the earth, infest forests, and overwhelm settlements. Their presence is usually heralded not by war drums, but by the scratching of chitin and the buzzing of wings. While they are currently a threat to the explorers of Frosthaven, it is hinted that they are an invasive species threatening to overtake the entire northern ecosystem if left unchecked.

The (officially known by its class name, Prism ) is one of the most mechanically complex and rewarding advanced classes in Frosthaven . Represented by a spindly, pot-bellied robot, the Hive is actually a swarm of insects piloting a mechanical chassis. It specializes in a unique "transfer" mechanic, allowing the player to swap between the main character and various robotic summons, effectively acting as multiple entities on the battlefield. In the frozen frontier town of Frosthaven, the enemies are as harsh as the weather. While the Algox (the Ice Demons) are the primary antagonists of the main storyline, the represents a creeping, visceral threat that players must contend with throughout their campaign. The HIVE is one of the complex, locked "advanced" classes in Frosthaven , specifically referring to the Prism class (represented by the hive/drone icon). It is a high-complexity class centered on managing a swarm of robotic summons and shifting the "focus" of your character between them. Core Concept: The Swarm Management The HIVE operates differently than most summoners. Instead of just plopping units on the board, you function as a distributed intelligence. You typically have a "Transfer" mechanic that allows you to move your consciousness (and your items/stats) from your main body into your summons, or between the summons themselves. Mode Shifting: You can play as a "Single-Entity" powerhouse by absorbing your summons for buffs or as a "Wide-Swarm" commander by filling the board with small, fragile robots. Tempo & Longevity: Losing a summon hurts this class more than others. While you have cards to recover them, doing so is slow and costs precious turns in a game where stamina is everything. Strengths Versatility: Depending on which robots you have active (melee bruisers, ranged attackers, or utility bots), you can adapt to various scenario needs. Target Saturation: By clogging the board with small units, you can effectively "tank" by forcing enemies to waste high-damage attacks on 1-HP robots. Action Economy: At peak efficiency, the HIVE can perform multiple attacks and movements per turn through its active summons. Weaknesses Fragility: The HIVE’s summons are notoriously low-HP. They are extremely vulnerable to While they are currently a threat to the

The Hive is a collective consciousness of insectoid creatures native to the northern reaches. They are not a mindless swarm; they are a highly efficient, bio-engineered killing machine. Unlike the Algox, who have a civilization, religion, and territory, the Hive operates on pure biological imperative: expansion and consumption.

It is generally considered a mid-to-late campaign unlock, often appearing after classes like the Snowflake, Trap, or Shackles. Core Mechanics and Playstyles
